“You cannot enslave a mind that knows itself, that values itself, that understands itself”
– Wangari Maathai

Our essence

We elevate inner resilience while at the same time bridging and blending the inner and outer and kindling our relationships with nature.

We recognise the toll on young people of climate impacts, providing care and nurturing capacities for bridging and building worlds of belonging.

We participate in a growing global movement that cares about mental health and wellbeing as well as cultivating practices that protect kindness, compassion, gratitude, joy, insight, and wisdom.

“Social and political transformation is always built from the heart and spirit of the community, led by the people most impacted, and driven by movements of solidarity. Power comes from really seeing each other, understanding the needs of those around us and the intersecting issues that connect us.” - Roots

We research and report on innovations in inner work across the globe, collect case studies, and explore responses to the impacts of the climate crisis on young people that shift the narrative beyond mental health, wellbeing, and mindfulness

Our Works

We are activating a global movement of resilient, agile young climate leaders.

Our Community

We deliver capacity-building programs that nourish and engage the inner qualities that make good leaders: courage, compassion, peace, and imagination.

Programs

We collect and share resources for inner-led change, acknowledging context and culture and leveraging our diversity.

Applications for 2026 opens March 4

How the Programme Changes and Moves Us

The Ambassadorship advances capacities in leading with courage, changing systems as young people, sharpening advocacy and strategy, and build bridges and communities of belonging.

The Capstones invite the opportunity to work collaboratively as we integrate all we learn to bring these capacities back to our communities.

Over the 8 month journey together, Ambassadors deepen leadership and resilience capacities, tapping collective insight and wisdom for the benefit of all. They weave a global network of young worldmakers that are learning to show up with inspirational confidence, dignity, and trust.

After the success of our 2025 programme, we are excited to once again offer this free 8-month course.

In 2026, Climate Youth Resilience hopes to train at least 60 young people as Ambassadors for Inner-Led Change.

This programme is for youth aged 18-35 who are motivated and passionate about young people’s inner worlds, inner practice, and bringing forward political, societal, and environmental change from the inside out.

Do we have a match?

We’re looking for Ambassadors aligned with our values and principles of collaboration, community, co-creation, emergence, inherent dignity and belonging

Our second Ambassadors for Inner-Led Change Cohort will include representatives from our 6 global regions: Asia-Pacific, Europe, LATAM, North America, Sub-Saharan Africa and SWANA.

Additionally, we will have a UK-based cohort thanks to our partnership with the Inner Climate Response Alliance (ICRA).

Our Ambassadors:

  • Are leaders in climate organisations or otherwise working to bring wisdom practices into their local community to lead differently as we build new worlds
  • Know that we are not separate from nature, and advocate for the connection between our inner worlds and the metacrisis we face
  • Want to learn how to show up in ways that make inner resilience as sustainable as outer adaptation
  • Prioritise presence, care, and showing up for the community and beyond.

What will we do together this year?

Our 2026 cohort will focus on 4 target learning and practice areas:

  • Courageous Leadership for Humanity
  • Systems Change for Young People
  • Advocacy Strategy
  • Bridging and Belonging

In addition to the 4 immersive modules above, the Ambassadorship concludes with a 4-week Capstone Development Project to consolidate learnings and bring them forward, creating and co-creating an offering for your community. In this final module of the program, you become the leader and guide, sharing your knowledge and insights with others.

The programme covers eight months of learning, sensing, and embodying together, from April to November 2026:

After the programme ends, you will have tools and insights to train others in your community.

Together, we will create a global circle of youth climate leaders who are passionate, inspired, and capable of leading from the heart, who are comfortable and confident in bringing inner-led change to both the global stage and in local communities.

Our Ambassadors will reach all the corners of the globe — uniting to shift narratives. We will build worlds of belonging, weaving across borders and difference, and inspiring action that supports our shared dream of a socially just, climate just Earth.

How will the programme change me?

CYR Ambassadors will learn a range of skills drawing on their own knowledges and lived experience, and on programmeme content. Listed below are some of the qualities Ambassadors will nurture.

  • Capacity to advocate for the necessity of inner care in public conversation and policymaking
  • Practice decolonisation and build capacities to show up confidently in challenging spaces that perpetuate dominant narratives
  • Deepened confidence in one’s own gifts, inherent wisdom, embodied leadership
  • Practice engaging with pathways for liberation and peacebuilding, from the inside to the outside
  • Speak confidently about the importance of caring for the whole of our beings
  • Bridge divides when they encounter them in their community or globally
  • Feel strengthened in their leadership and in bringing inner work to general climate and environmental considerations
  • Lead communities in ways that acknowledge the link between climate impacts and mental health
  • Leadership in appreciating how to tap into the innate wisdom and knowledges and bring these to climate action
  • We will continue to emphasise decolonisation and build capacities to show up confidently in challenging spaces that perpetuate dominant narratives
  • Cultivating cultures of care

Through practising together, CYR Ambassadors will:

  • elevate inner resilience while at the same time bridging and blending the inner and outer and kindling our relationships with nature
  • recognise the toll on young people of climate impacts, providing care and nurturing capacities for bridging and building worlds of belonging
  • participate in a growing global movement that cares about mental health and wellbeing as well as cultivating practices that protect kindness, compassion, gratitude, joy, insight, wisdom and hidden knowledges.

Who is this programme for?

If you are inspired by worldmaking, inner-led change, cultivating and spreading practices of care, tapping into our innate wisdom, weaving ancestral and indigenous sciences with modern nervous system sciences, we are so happy you found us.

To make the most of this programme, we are looking for young people who are already in positions of leadership in their organisations. We are focusing on participants who already have a platform with which to amplify this work – for example, leaders of climate organisations, community programmes, and local resilience networks. Ideally our Ambassadors are already part of the global Climate Youth Resilience community.

Contact cyr@mindfulnessinitative.org.uk for more information about our global mapping project.

What are the limitations of this programme?

Currently, this programme will be delivered in English. CYR Regional Conveners will provide translations as far as we can to facilitate greater participation, access, and understanding.

While it is our ambition to make this programme multilingual, we unfortunately cannot yet guarantee that learning materials will be translated. CYR remains committed to correcting this limitation. If you are, or know of, a funder who would like to contribute to supporting the language accessibility of this programme, please contact us at cyr@mindfulnessinitiative.org.uk.

This programme is held completely online via Zoom. As a result, strong Internet access with video conferencing capacity is required. This virtual platform is an essential component of the CYR Ambassador programme and we request that all applicants have sufficient Internet access to participate with ease across the eight months.

Do I need any special experience or knowledge?

All levels of inner practice are welcome.

We hope that all participants have enthusiasm for this transformative approach to climate action and social change. Additionally, we ask that our CYR Ambassadors have care, compassion, and respect for one another.

Our values are: Collaboration, Community, Co-creation, and Emergence. We practice “power with” and “power within.” This means that we leverage difference, know when to step back so others can step in, and we are sensitive to power dynamics and how we show up.

We will shape the foundations of compassion, kindness, and worldmaking in our time together.

If you are aligned with these values, please join us.

Do I have to pay to apply or participate in the Ambassadors programme?

No, the CYR Ambassadors programme is offered completely free to everyone who is admitted to the cohort.

This is thanks to the generosity of the Robert H N Ho Foundation. Your contribution to this programme is your presence and attention during the sessions, and commitment and dedication to your learning process, your peers, and the community you represent. Your capstone project proposal will be presented to other ambassadors and will be published on our website.

If you are a potential funder and would like to support this programme, please contact cyr@mindfulnessinitiative.org.uk. We are actively looking for financial support to increase our capacity to deliver this programme in the global South. If you are aligned with these values, please join us.

What language will the course be delivered in?

For the time being, this programme is offered in English.

We are working hard to find a solution to deliver translations but cannot promise that translations will be available by the time the programme begins. Please let us know if you have any suggestions to make the programme more accessible – we are very open to your ideas!
